As a beauty editor, I count Chanel as one of my all-time favourite beauty brands. So, when I got to an exclusive first look at Chanel's limited edition holiday collection at The Magical House of Chanel at Harrods, you can best believe that I promptly made space in my makeup bag—Chanel's holiday collections are some of the most anticipated of the year by beauty lovers.

When it comes to planning, I'm usually last minute––I often book flights a few days before I go away, for example––but my one exception? Shopping. Fashion is always steps ahead (we've already seen what's coming up for spring/summer 2025), so when it comes to my new season wish list, it pays to be organised. We can all see, and shop, what everyone else is wearing through Insta, so often this leads to the best bits selling out first. And after my dream H&M Studio maxi coat selling out before I could get it last year, I'm not willing to let this happen again for 2024. Which is why I'm skipping jackets, and already planning which coat I'm going to be buying instead. I've been shopping a lot of my autumn pieces from H&M(it's SO good right now), so of course this was my first destination to look for some of the most expensive-looking outerwear on the high street, and I wasn't disappointed.

White I love the barn jackets and suede offerings coming through, it's the wool-blend and maxi coats I'm most interesting in securing before they sell out––much like Hannah Lewis' It style from 2023. After trawling through all 496 H&M coats (there's actually 792 now Arket, Cos and co. are also all on site), I found the 24 styles that I would happily add to my forever coat collection. But I cannot stress this enough––they will sell out, so be as quick as you can.

It's certainly high up on the list of my haircare agenda, especially after recently adding colour to my hair for the first time in years. I'm also guilty of using my hairdryer and heat styling tools on a weekly basis, and am well aware that colouring and heat styling hair are two of the biggest contributors towards hair damage... Damage that results in hair breaking easily, being difficult to style, and looking dull, fluffy, and frizzy. Not ideal.

Of course, there are plenty of shine-boosting sprays and serums out there that can help you to to cheat glossy hair in a matter of seconds. But if you're wondering how to make hair look glossy all of the time, it requires more than just one product. Don't worry though, achieving glossy hair doesn't have to be complicated—turns out, it's all about using the right products in the right order.

Below, haircare experts Michael Shaun Corby (salon and haircare global education ambassador at Amika) and Casey Voss (curly hair educator and Innersense Artist) gave me all of their top tricks and tips for achieving glossy hair at every point in your haircare routine, from prep to finish.

1. Build a haircare routine

"When styling, it’s essential to treat your hair with the same care and precision you give to your skincare or makeup routine," says Corby. "Start with a scalp care treatment, hydrating mask, or smoothing treatment to eliminate unwanted frizz and create a sleek base then use a strengthening shampoo and a shine-boosting conditioner to ensure your hair is well-prepped for heat styling."

When it comes to styling, Corby recommends using a foundation product (such as a mousse, cream, or serum to smooth and protect your hair. "The final step is applying a topcoat product to lock in shine," he adds. "For finer or thinner hair types, I recommend using a serum, followed by a lightweight finishing spray to seal in the look."

2. Use build-up removing products

Just as a deep cleanse is an essential component to a skincare routine built to achieve shiny, smooth skin, the same principle applies within hair. "My favourite wash day hair care routine for creating glossy, shiny hair always starts with a detoxifying hair mask. A lot of times, buildup is what creates dullness on the surface of our hair," explains Voss. "Just like skin needs hydration to glow, our hair also requires moisture to shine. By removing buildup, a detoxifying mask allows hair to better take in hydration."

3. Increase hydration

"Achieving glossy hair is all about identifying and addressing your hair's specific needs, so for those dealing with dryness, your hair may not immediately benefit from glossing products," explains Corby. "It’s essential to first restore moisture and strength. Using deeply hydrating treatments can triple moisture levels and fortify the hair, creating a stronger base for achieving gloss."

4. Reduce heat

Since shiny hair is an indicator of healthy hair, it's far better to focus on ensuring hair is healthy and hydrated (and therefore naturally glossy), than just masking dullness with a finishing product. According to Corby, ensuring your hair isn't exposed to high or unnecessary temperatures is one of the number one things to keep in mind.

"Higher heat settings can cause unnecessary damage, so instead, use a heat protectant and lower the temperature, making multiple passes with the tool as needed," he explains. "Adjust the heat based on your hair texture, thickness, and density—the finer the hair, the lower the heat should be."

"One of the biggest mistakes people make is styling hair that isn’t completely dry," he adds. "Any residual moisture can cause frizz, dullness, and an uneven blowout, so always make sure your hair is fully dry before applying heat. Once you think it’s dry, take a moment to feel the hair as it cools. If any part feels cold, there’s still water present, which can lead to damage during heat styling."

As someone who wears jeans more often than not, I'm always on the lookout for emerging denim trends to shake up my rotation, and this season I've spotted an entirely fresh offering that's given my denim collection a new lease of life. What's more, is that it's a style that both me and my Gen Z sister—whose wardrobes you couldn't possibly mix-up—have both just invested in. Rifting off the barrel-leg silhouette that soared in popularity this season, the twisted seam jeans trend is the one coming to the fore. Just as they sound, these jeans feature off-kilter seams, sometimes darting down the front of the jean, that work to add a voluminous finish and a point of interest. Having picked up on this emerging look during my work day, you can imagine my surprise when I found out my younger sister had also recently invested in a pair of twist-seam jeans.

More sculptural in design, twist-seam jeans sets themselves apart from their denim sisters using their interesting shape. Wider than a straight-leg style (the style that dominates my wardrobe), this emerging design plays with proportions, creating a dynamic silhouette that gives an outfit far more drama than a standard jeans ever could.

Whilst it feels very fresh for the new season, brands have been working the trend into their collections for several months now. I know that COS's dark grey style would style so well with a pointed-toe heel, and ME+EM's pleated pair will give an evening look the drama it deserves.

Appealing to my Gen-Z sibling's penchant for a baggy jean, and my millennial want to feel on-trend and current, I loved how content creator @andreacheong_ picked up on this in her latest reel.

With the advent of autumn, I have again come to my annual realisation that I have nothing to wear. I thrive during the summer in light cotton dresses, but it's the autumn/winter season that I find the hardest to dress for. Now, I might be overreacting a little, as I definitely have enough to get me through the next few months, but when it's dark outside and I'm staring into my wardrobe with a background of drizzle and a cold breeze, I always get the urge to treat myself to some cosy knitwear, a new coat and a pair of sleek boots.

Although I'm largely content with what I own, there are a couple of gaps I can justify filling with a couple of key wardrobe staples; pieces I've probably over-worn now and are due a refresh. I managed to tick a few of these off with secondhand buys, and now it's time to take to the high street to get me over the finish line. Overwhelmed with options, I headed straight towards a reliable old favourite, walking right into Marks and Spencer. Having worn the brand's tights for school and bought my bras from there ever since my first fitting, M&S is still my first port of call when I'm looking to make a purchase. I find its collections almost always include the refined silhouettes I shop for most frequently—and often at very reasonable prices—and it's still nailing those fundamentals all these years later.

On the shop floor, I plucked a few key items that instantly caught my attention. Selecting a warm knit, a roomy coat, the perfect '90s-style leather jacket and a leopard-print blouse, I also grabbed some wearable denim, trending shoes and a couple of bags I couldn't resist giving a closer look. To the changing room! Size-wise, I tend to sit between a 10 and a 12, often opting for the former for my bottom half and the latter for tops and jackets. At 5'7", I like a bit of roomy fit, and my clothing choices attest to this. Keep scrolling to see the M&S autumn 2024 pieces I tried on, and read my honest thoughts on each.

Style Notes: I have to confess that I'm a bit of a sceptic when it comes to faux leather. Perhaps because I spent so much of my teens in head-to-toe polyester, I'm now very reluctant to buy any "leather" item that isn't 100% genuine. As such, I was incredibly surprised to find myself falling in love with this faux-leather jacket. In a rich brown shade that falls somewhere between camel and chocolate, this slim-fitting jacket has a boxy cut and a neat finish that reminded me of the '90s-inspired styles I always look out for.

Cropping slightly above the hips, this jacket features a zip fastening and an elasticated hem that ensures a polished silhouette and some extra insulation. Wanting a comfortable, slightly oversized fit, I reached for a size 14, which was fitted enough not to appear too big, but large enough to wear over a knit—exactly the kind of layer I need for these in-between days. Suffice it to say, this sub-£60 jacket went straight onto my purchase pile.

With a slim fit up top, I wanted a little bit of volume on the bottom and tried on M&S' Wide Palazzo Leg Jeans and a pair of chunky Chelsea boots to ground my outfit. The jeans fit comfortably in a regular-length size 10. The great thing about M&S jeans is that they're available in short, regular and long lengths so you can get a much better fit.

Style Notes: As someone with broad shoulders, I often find a V-neck more flattering than a crew neck. Following that same formula, I generally gravitate more towards cardigans than jumpers, as I can wear it buttoned up all the way, or break up the shape by leaving the top button undone. Ever in need of more knitwear—I can imagine that everyone in the UK feels this way right now—I was keen to discover M&S' latest offering. After a loop around the store, I came straight back to the first style that caught my eye: this pretty argyle cardigan.

In a light yellow shade with grey and blue accents, this cosy layer spoke to the softer, brighter side of autumn/winter dressing. Adorned with gleaming gold buttons, the cardigan looks well beyond its £35 price tag, and the wool composition adds a snug touch. I tried it on with and without a layer underneath and found it was soft enough to wear without a base. I selected this cardigan in a size 12, which was perfectly roomy and very comfortable. I kept the rest of my outfit fairly neutral so as not to detract from the cardigan's colour and print, opting for jeans in a sculptural horseshoe cut and a pair of burgundy ballet flats.

I couldn't resist grabbing this expensive-looking suede bag to try with the outfit, and I found it paired perfectly with the cosy knit, earning it a place on my wish list.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Style Notes: I'm a firm believer that if you fall in love with a winter coat, you simply have to buy it. From November to April, a full-length coat is practically your entire outfit and thus needs to really encapsulate your style. Having spotted just the kind of coat I could easily see sitting in my wardrobe, this checked style made its way to the changing rooms with me. Initially struck by the grown-up print, I found the checked motif interesting but not too attention-grabbing—making it feel versatile and easy to style with a broad range of looks.

I'm entirely obsessed with trench coats, so I tend to shop for wool coats in a similar silhouette, and this delivered exactly the finish I was after. Wanting to ground the look with a chunky shoe, I reached for a pair of brown leather Chelsea boots and styled the coat with a simple tee and relaxed blue jeans, but it would also look great worn with tailored trousers or a black slip dress. The coat hit my mid-calf, which is a nice length on me, so if you're any shorter it might require hemming.

Style notes: Somehow, I seem to have evaded the leopard-print trend so far this season, but I was finally taken in this week by M&S' pretty leopard blouse. Looking for something I could weave into my daily wardrobe, this fun top stood out. With hook fastenings tracing down the centre, concealed by subtle bow detailing, the blouse—which I picked up in a 12—was easy to get on and off and could be worn fully buttoned or partially open.

I loved the puff-sleeve detailing and found this helped elevate the silhouette, whilst giving the design a playful edge. This is the kind of blouse that could be worked into so many looks, so I defaulted to a simple silhouette, styling it with classic blue jeans, red ballet flats and a studded bag. Ideal for milder autumn days, this lightweight blouse would sit well underneath a leather jacket or a black wool coat, but equally holds its own when worn by itself. I loved it with dark-wash, flared jeans and found it paired perfectly with the pop of red that the ballet flats offered.

SHOP THE LOOK:

As a substitute for black, brown pieces offer a cosier, softer and—dare I say it—more polished alternative. It removes the hardness of black staples, and instead feels altogether softer and very seasonally appropriate. And with the number of brown style options available this season, from designer and high street favourites alike, I'm definitely sold on introducing this colour into my cold weather wardrobe.

So the question is: how to style it? As I mentioned, brown is a blissfully easy swap for your black go-tos. Pair with cream, white, navy, greens—pretty much anything. Personally, I've invested in a brown wool coat this season, and I'm surprised to find that it's actually even more versatile than my black style from last season. Style Notes: I'm such a huge fan of wearing a cardigan buttoned up as a top, and this is such a great example of using that trick as the basis of a monochromatic look. Thanks to the brown tones, the whole thing is much softer than if it was in all black.

2. Knitted Dress + Wool Coat

Style Notes: Knit dresses are a cold weather essential, and this mole brown tone is especially versatile. I love how it works with another autumn staple—the wool coat.

3. Leather Skirt + Jumper + Strappy Heels

Style Notes: One of my favourite iterations of brown is leather, which is why I'm obsessed with this brown leather skirt ensemble. The contrast of the shiny leather with the ultra soft knit is so delicious.

4. Cords + Jumper + Loafers

Style Notes: Recently, I've spotted so many influencers embrace the Seventies style of wide-leg fit corduroy trousers. I love how Liv has layered hers with pale beige tones—it creates such a cosy autumn look.

5. Turtleneck Jumper + Tailored Trousers + Trench Coat

Style Notes: I'm bracing for the really cold weather, and this look is the one I'm planning on recreating once the brisk winds really pick up. It's so effortlessly sophisticated and classic (and practical), you could really wear for any occasion.

6. Jeans + Jumper + Heeled Mules + Suede Bag

Style Notes: Yes, brown jeans really are a thing. My advice is to follow this example and opt for lighter wash jeans so you can layer with chocolate-toned knits.

Whether you're still wearing last season's mini skirts and enjoying bare legs or you're ready to commit to jeans and boots for the foreseeable, a fluffy knit is an easy addition to help up the comfort factor of your favourite outfit. Jumpers, cardigans and vests have been filling the new-in sections since August, and now we're finally ready to make the seasonal switch it's well worth figuring out which styles are worth investing in for the long haul.

While the last couple of winters made heroes of the oversized turtleneck knit thanks in part to Toteme, COS and H&M, editors are eagerly looking for the next new thing. Can we expect another genre-changing knit like that Khaite bra-digan? Will we ever see fashionable glow up of the novelty knit? An update on the cape? With these pressing questions in mind, I set about scouring the runways and social media to find the answer. So, should the last week have left you a little cold and you're ready to wrap up (stylishly of course), here are six major knitwear trends that are set to be everywhere this season. 1. Scarf Jumpers

Style Notes: As quickly as Toteme's scarf jacket made us rethink the capabilities of the humble scarf, so came the next best thing—the scarf jumper. A simple concept, yes, but boy does it have big pay off. The drapery! The additional toastiness! There's a lot to love about a pared-back jumper with a built in scarf—could this be quiet luxury at its finest? Either way, we're happy to take a leaf out of the Scandi book of style, just add straight leg jeans and a square toe ankle boot.

2. Argyle Golf Knits

Style Notes: It just wouldn't be a knitwear round up without at least one good print, and although we're used to winter being the natural place for ski-ready Fair Isle knits, 2024 is all about the preppier Argyle. If it looks like it belongs on a golf course, you've nailed it, and with designers like Miu Miu backing the look in a big way this season, you can expect to see the popularity of the diamond motif continue to rise into the next year too.

3. Knit Tees

Style Notes: Don't panic minimalists, it isn't all bright colours and bells and whistles, on the days it's too chilly for your usual white tee, simply swap the cotton for cashmere for equally laidback luxe. Not only do you already know a knit tee will go with everything already in your wardrobe—tailoring, mini skirts, midi skirts, jeans, leather, slips, you name it, but it's also a great layering pieces when temperatures drop again at the end of the year.

4. Colour Pop Cardigans

Style Notes: Cardigans are officially cool again, and although most of us have a black or a grey cardi in our wardrobes for throwing on with jeans, we've noticed brights taking off in a big way in 2024. Hot reds, apple greens, punchy pinks have all been given the A-list stamp of approval (take J.Law's recent outing as further proof), and there's no better way to bring a dose of sunshine to an otherwise dreary few months than with a dopemine knit designed to brighten the room.

Style Notes: Our favourite outfit option on the days you have "nothing to wear"? An easy co-ord of course. This fuss-free ensemble takes all of the stress out of outfit building by making matchy-matchy feel fresh, and by adding our other seasonal faves (suede, leather jackets and Chelsea boots), you've got a cosy-chic outfit smart enough to wear to work too.

6. Throw On and Go Dresses

Style Notes: Just as reliable as the co-ord, pull on dresses will come into their own in the latter half of the year as the seasonal alternative to the linen dresses we wore all summer. Turtlenecks and knee high boots are a classic pairing, but there are now more options than ever, so you can find no-ironing-required outfits in the form of mini dresses and moto boots, long dresses and trainers and midi dresses and ankle boots.

Almost an outfit in itself, a great coat is really all you need to ensure a chic cold-weather look. Encasing you from shoulders to calves, it's arguably more important a garment than a classic pair of jeans or a crisp white tee. As such, I take the purchasing process of a new coat very seriously and have stumbled upon a new outerwear trend that I'm very excited about.

Rather than disappearing into the crowd of typical black and navy coats that populate the streets once the weather starts to dip, this season, I've noticed fashion people are adding a fresh colour into their rotations. Enter the burgundy coat trend.

This elegant alternative to a classic black coat adds the warm wash of colour that autumn outfits often need whilst instilling your look with a moody edge perfectly suited to these crisper months. Wearing well with the richer shades that often dominate cold-weather palettes and wardrobes, the colour styles well with browns, greys and blacks. That said, I've also seen it paired with pretty peach and dusty rose for super-chic results.

Already in the wardrobes of fashion people in Paris, Amsterdam and London, I predict it won't be long until this trend really starts taking over. Searches for burgundy clothing and burgundy shoes are spiking right now, and the change of season is sure to see the demand for burgundy coats rise, too. As well as dominating my Instagram feed, burgundy layers were a fixture in the autumn/winter 2024 collections in February, affirming that the trend has plenty of mileage yet.

You initially started out in investment banking. How did you find the transition from starting out to launching the GetHarley platform, and what was the catalyst for change?

I grew up in Malaysia and got a scholarship to study Economics at the London School of Economics so I moved to the UK at 21. I thought that starting out my career in finance and investment banking would teach me valuable skills about business and that I would be surrounded by excellent people learn from. I was right, and it landed me my first job at Morgan Stanley on the Leveraged Finance desk.

As one of the few females in the industry at the time, a lot of consumer and healthcare-type deals would often land on my desk. That got me involved in a private equity transaction involving acquisitions of independent clinic businesses, and I understood the industry as an analyst, tracking market trends and studying profit and loss statements of clinics looking to be acquired. This is when my interest in the aesthetic dermatology industry was first piqued, and I really understood the potential of this market. However, the idea of GetHarley really only came to me when I experienced difficulty as a consumer myself. I was looking for the right skincare solutions for my own skin and kept experiencing obstacles in my search.

In my late twenties, I struggled with my skin—I had many issues like acne, scarring, eczema—and I was growing tired of all the confusion and what I felt was misinformation in the skincare industry. I craved a trusted voice to guide me through the thousands of options for my skin. I visited a lot of different practitioners, but always found it difficult to stay consistent with one treatment plan because the experience was so incredibly cumbersome; it was all waiting in clinic receptions, phone calls, emails, and trouble scheduling.That was when the idea of GetHarley came to me: an end-to-end platform that helps consumers discover just the right skincare solution for their skin, powered by knowledgeable practitioners they can tap into at the click of a few buttons. How does what you wear to the office differ from your off-duty and weekend wardrobe?

My work and off-duty wardrobes do not differ much. Our ethos is "come as you are", as long as it is in line with the role you have within the company..

Sometimes my work involves evening dinners and events, this is when I make time to get a bit more creative and dress up, choosing heels over my trusted runners.

We are in a unique position to cut through the noise in this crowded market and connect consumers directly with skincare professionals who have dedicated their careers to understanding and treating skin. By widening access to world-leading skincare expertise and products, and bringing them into the homes of thousands of people (many who otherwise would not or could not travel to the practitioner rooms), we get to encourage better skin health for so many people. I suppose because I have experienced firsthand the emotional and physical pains of having tricky skin, this part of my work really brings me meaning.

What was your first pinch-me moment—the moment you realised that something you’d worked on and pushed for had had an impact?

Our mission has always been to empower people to look, feel and be their best selves at every age. I am proud that after five years of our business, we continue to provide a service that serves and delights the patients. Seeing our 4.8/5 Trustpilot score where patients regularly recount how GetHarley, alongside their practitioner, have enhanced their skin health journeys and in some cases, changed their lives, was and continues to be, a pinch-me moment. This means the most to me that we can play a part in helping patients feel more confident in their own skin.

I'm also always grateful for the opportunity to be a champion of quality for our practitioner partners. In the early days when the pandemic was still at large, many practitioners told us that GetHarley had become a lifeline for them as they were not able to operate as usual during those uncertain times. The fact that we were able to help keep businesses afloat, especially as a start up, was a very surreal moment for sure!

Who are your style icons, and how have they influenced the way you dress?

A lot of different people inspire my style, for different reasons but I am definitely all about simple and understated looks and making sure I prioritise comfort. It’s so important I feel like me in anything I wear. A big influence on the way I dress goes back to my early teenage years when my mum had a business of selling women’s clothes. One day after school, I remember following my mum to my aunt’s office where my aunt would gather all her friends to congregate in the ladies' washroom to try on the clothes my mum was selling. I distinctly remember this backdrop of a humble, gritty, ugly bathroom setting, contrasted with a group of women putting on clothes and coming out of the stalls, looking completely transformed.

That memory has stuck with me since and goes to show that what you wear and how you look really goes beyond the superficial. It impacts the way you feel and how ready you are to take on the world. That’s where my style comes from, wearing whatever makes me feel best at any given time. Whenever I want an instant feel good factor, I turn to Chanel jackets I’ve collected over the years. Beauty wise, the best look to me is one that makes you look like you’ve had a great night’s sleep or a holiday. Clear, dewy skin with minimal blush. Again, it’s about looking like a better version of myself.

How has your style evolved from when you first started out in banking to now?

Back in the day banking did have a prescriptive dress code. Men had to wear shirts, and pink was for Fridays only! Women mostly had to wear shirts, below the knee skirts, dresses, hosiery, closed toe shoes, and so I wore mostly the same uniform. I can’t say I miss it!

What does a typical day look like for you?

I normally try to maximize my sleep and get up 30 minutes before I have to leave the house. Usually that’s around 8am, for an 8.30 start. No day is the same though, and I like to have thinking time in the first half of the day, and evenings are generally for business meetings, community events and connecting with friends. Meetings usually take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Fridays are creative days where I review assets, copy, do ideation meetings, and Mondays and Thursdays I try to position for thinking and planning time.

What's your favourite go-to outfit, and how does it make you feel?

My favourite go-to outfit is a co-ord sweatshirt and sweatpants from American Vintage. I love co-ords because they help me to instantly look like I have made a tonne of effort, but they just take five minutes to put on. Convenient and comfortable! Another one of my go-tos is a GetHarley sweatshirt (we release one edition every year for our team of GoGetters) and leggings. To be productive and creative, I really think you need to be in maximum comfort!

I also love a good Nap Dress from Hill House Home. They are well cut, can be dressed up with heels or down with a pair of sneakers, and bring a touch of femininity to any outfit. Some other brands I've been wearing a lot lately are Vuori, Lululemon, The Row, Loro Piana, Rag & Bone, and oversized cashmere sweaters stolen from my husband’s closet, and vintage sweatshirts stolen from my sister’s closet. I like wearing things of people I love, it’s like a virtual hug.

What advice would you give to women thinking of setting up and starting their own business?

Be clear about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. When I started in 2019, it was definitely the flavour du jour to be an entrepreneur but there needs to be a true “why” to make it work in the long run. You need a reason that can sustain you through the most painful parts of the journey. For me, I always remind myself about why I went down this path—to reimagine and improve the experience in the aesthetic dermatology and wellness industry. If practitioners are finding it hard to do something, how can we make it better? How can we elevate a consumer’s experience? And remember; the market is a very efficient place! If your idea or solution could work in reality, it would already exist. You need real insight into the industry and pinpoint what other people haven’t seen, understood, or done before.

I think it’s important to think through your family planning and finances and how that fits with an all consuming entrepreneurial lifestyle. My belief is that you can’t have everything all at once, but if you time things well and are thoughtful, you can build the life you want to live over time.

 What's on your vision board for the next year?

Ooh big question! Given that it’s late into 2024, I am thinking more about 2025. I'm manifesting taking GetHarley global, new art in my apartment, new features on the GetHarley platform that will make life for practitioners and patients even more fuss free, and an extended family trip to Tokyo where lots of food is involved. Thankfully, most of this is already in the making.

4 Nail Colours You Could Say Feel "Cheap" Now, and the Ones That Feel So Chic

Pausing: Pastel Tones

Wearing: Deeper Iterations

First up, Who What Wear's deputy editor Maxine Eggenberger tells me that she thinks pastel tones can look a little cheap in autumn. "I'd much rather go for deeper iterations at this time of year," she says. "Although pastel nails look great in spring and summer, I also think that these darker, richer alternatives look much more expensive come autumn and winter. If you want to be really on trend, swap your sky blue polish for a deep navy this October. You can always go back to the lighter side in March."

Pastel, matcha-inspired greens were big this summer, but for autumn I will be opting for deep, forest green shades instead.

Wearing: Beige

Although white nails look so chic in summer, Who What Wear's beauty editor Eleanor Vousden tells me she is swapping this shade for ecru and beige-toned nail polishes come winter. "These shades are a lot softer and more flattering in my opinion, especially when the clothes you're wearing are darker in contrast, too" she says.

This is definitely a much softer alternative that looks beautiful on all skin tones. If you still want to go for neutral nails this season but are also swerving bright white shades, then these creamy tones are the way to go.

Managing editor Poppy Nash says that this autumn she will be swapping neon shades for chic neutral tones. "Although neons are fun for summer, I think that neutral tones look much more expensive in the colder months," she tells me.

Although I do love the pop of colour that a neon manicure brings, I also opt for more neutral tones in the colder months as my wardrobe tends to feature deeper, richer shades.

Copy editor Georgia Seago is a fan of metallic nails, but is choosing silver over gold this season. "Metallic nails are a no-brainer for party season, but for me, silver is a more wearable, refined shade. Plus, silver accessories will be everywhere soon."

If you want your mani to be bang on trend this winter, then silver nail polish is the way to go.
