Insiders Told Me What They're Wearing for Fashion Month—Here's the Preview
If you're anything like this editor, you probably look forward to fashion month for the new collections debuting on the runways and the street style unfolding outside the shows. I find both equally inspiring, but the outfits fashion-industry veterans are wearing always have a big impact on how I'm getting dressed. With fashion month nearly upon us, I was curious to get a preview of the showstopping pieces and trends insiders will be wearing this season.
Ahead, some of the best dressed people in fashion are sharing a sneak peek at the cool brands, fall trends, and exact pieces they will be wearing everywhere from New York to Paris to attend the shows for the spring/summer 2025 collections. According to their picks, sheer skirts, pointed ankle boots, sleek staples, and capes are just a few standout trends that will be taking over the street style scene this season—shop all of their finds here.

"Since our style remains consistent from season to season, we'll be approaching fashion weeks with the same key styles as usual. Staying casual and comfortable, like any other week, but adding a kitten heel or a pair of earrings with a little extra dangle. We want to feel like ourselves during fashion weeks."
"Flore Flore makes the best, most flattering classic staples. Styling this tank top with a pair of jeans and might throw a blazer on top."
"The perfect piece for adding a touch of statement to a simple, classic outfit."
"The perfect heeled sandal for summer. A classic that always makes me feel put-together and a kitten heel that is easy to walk in. I can wear them all day without my feet killing me."
"We are running around back and forth between shows and the office or showroom, so it's nice to be able to throw in an extra sweater, a water bottle, and other essentials."
"Matteau makes my favorite shirts! The fit is perfect, and it remains crisp throughout the day. A well-fitted white shirt is a timeless piece that works year-round for any occasion."
Alexis Bennett, shopping content lead, Elle
"The number one item I'm looking forward to wearing during fashion week is an elegant cape. I hope the temperatures in NYC start to drop because I want to be swaddled in luxury."
"The fall is the perfect time to wear confusingly chic outfits—like a naked skirt with a blazer. I'm looking forward to the in-between-season weather so that I can stylishly wear some of the sheer pieces that were seen on the runways of Saint Laurent, Ludovic de Saint Sernin, and more."
"Before going full throttle into boot season, I like to ease into the season with a transitional shoe. Alaïa's peep-toe mules are the coolest option for chic fall looks."
"Fashion week might look like fun and games, but I'll be toting my laptop around from show to show. That way, I can actually get some work done. Luckily, big bags like the revived Gucci B Bag and the roomy Khaite Lotus are available to shop."
"I've been bitten by the Chemena Kamali love bug, and I'm completely obsessed with all things covered in ruffles. You can expect to see me wearing some flirty pieces inspired by the bohemian-cool collection at Chloé."
Libby Page, market director, Net-a-Porter
"Unsurprisingly, I am sticking to my signature style, which is very classic and solely black or cream, but lately, I am feeling drawn to more feminine and ladylike styles. After several seasons of embracing oversize shapes and silhouettes, I have reflected and think that, for my petite frame, they weren't the most flattering. As I step into fashion month, I am using it as a chance to reset my wardrobe, investing in jackets and pants that still feel true to what I love but that focus on slimmer and more nipped-in shapes. I may even inject some color in rich hues. (Don't hold me to that!) Nili Lotan, Altuzarra, Liberowe, and The Row have some great jackets that are either schoolboy, tweed, or cropped, which I am drawn to, and High Sport's kick flares are the perfect pant in my opinion. In footwear, I'm stepping into kitten heels and pointed toes and away from severe square toes that I've been drawn to in the past."
"Ladylike meets practical. The perfect tote for heading to shows from the office."
"Is there anything this dress can't do? Summer sandals, a slim-fitted black boot, kitten heels—the options are endless!"
"I have an unhealthy addiction to jackets at the moment, Liberowe's signature style comes in various fabrics and is the perfect amount of fitted for my new feminine approach!"
"The perfect transeasonal shoe and heel height … if you're on your feet all day!"
Eliza Huber, senior editor, Who What Wear
"I've been doing a lot of shopping these last few months because I've been traveling a ton and the opportunities were there. I got lucky at a few sample sales, and I've just stumbled across a lot of great secondhand finds, mostly on The RealReal. This fashion month, I'm relying on those discoveries as opposed to shopping for the shows specifically. I like it better that way because the resulting looks feel a lot more 'me' than if I scramble right before to try and put a ton of interesting, standout outfits together. I usually wear outfits that I've worn before—often to the office—because I know they work. During fashion week, I have so many other things to think about, so spending a ton of time outfit ideating just isn't in the cards. Plus, the outfits always look a little off or overdone because I'm rushed and stressed out. I really just want to have fun with my outfits while still wearing things that I feel comfortable in."
"I also have this padded pencil skirt from Prada that I've only worn once because I get so scared that someone will spill on it on the subway or a street corner, but I want to risk it for a fun outfit this season. When I wore it before, it was with a gray cashmere cardigan. It'll be far too warm for that, so I'm leaning toward a T-shirt and some fun Prada court shoes I have from the same collection."
"I have been really into pretty draping, so a lot of my recent purchases include those details, like the Tory Burch minidress that I wore months ago to the Monaco Grand Prix and fell in love with and therefore had to order during the brand's recent sale."
"I've been obsessed with what Louise Trotter has designed for Carven ever since she started there, so I knew I wanted to stop into the store when I was in Paris last month for the Olympics. I ended up spending over an hour in the store trying things on and decided to splurge on a beautifully sculpted tunic that isn't available yet in the U.S. (This linked one is similar, but mine has a full back rather than an open one.) I'm excited to style it in different ways—maybe with leggings and heels or a sheer skirt."
"I'm writing a piece about this Kyiv-based brand A.M.G. that I've admired for a while now, and it made me fall in love with this sleeveless, collared maxi dress. It's just so elegant and sophisticated. I'll probably style it with black heeled sandals and maybe my green Prada Supernova bag to add some color. Don't hold me to that, though. I'm still playing around with the styling."
"I've just been obsessed with capes lately and playing around with them, so I got one from Zara that'll be fun to accessorize with or wear as a top this season—probably with capri pants or Bermuda shorts or even a dress underneath."
